How to get to Pokhara?
To get to Pokhara you could take a bus from Kathmandu. This is the cheapest option but not the comfiest option as the roads are pretty bumpy! Be prepared not to get any sleep if you take the sleeper bus. You can book your bus via 12Go Asia. Or you could also take a bus from Chitwan. You cannot book this bus online but your hostel will be able to either book tickets for you, or you could turn up at the bus station and buy them yourself.
If you don’t fancy taking the bumpy roads to get to Pokhara then you could take a flight. This is a quick way to travel but definitely not the cheapest! You can also book a flight using 12Go Asia.

1. Phewa Lake
Phewa Lake is surrounded by forests and is surrounded by the Annapurna mountain range. It offers a stunning backdrop for relaxation and reflection. You can take a leisurely boat ride on its crystal-clear waters, often sharing the lake with paddleboats. The reflection of the surrounding peaks on the lake’s surface is an incredible sight, especially during the golden hours of sunrise and sunset. Along the lakeshore, you’ll find a range of restaurants, shops, and accommodations.
2. Annapurna Cable Cars
The Annapurna Cable Cars is a great way to experience the breathtaking views of the Annapurna mountain range. As one of the world’s highest cable cars, it takes passengers on a journey to Sarangkot, perched high in the hills. The ride offers panoramic views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountain ranges, as well as the Phewa Lake below. Be sure not to miss this!

3. Devi’s Fall
Devi’s Fall, located just southwest of Pokhara, Nepal, is a natural wonder that combines both beauty and mystique. Also known as “Patale Chango,” which means “underworld waterfall,” it cascades down into the earth below. The waterfall derives its name from where a Swiss tourist named David went swimming and was swept away, giving rise to the local legend. It costs 100 NPR (€0.70) to enter.
4. Gupteshwor Mahdev Cave
In Gupteshwor Mahadev Cave, you’ll find yourself in a mystical world of stalactites and stalagmites, with a sacred underground stream flowing through it. At the heart of the cave lies a stunning limestone formation of Lord Shiva, the Hindu god of destruction. The cave’s unique geological features and spiritual significance make it a popular pilgrimage and tourist destination. It costs 50 NPR (€0.35) to enter.
5. Tal Barahi Temple
The Tal Barahi Temple is dedicated to the Hindu goddess Barahi, often depicted with the face of a boar. You can take a serene boat ride across the waters of the lake, surrounded by the magnificent Annapurna mountain range, to reach the temple.

Along the main street in Pokhara, there are many tourist shops located here. You can buy a range of things from clothes, incense, bags, spices and artwork. Take some time to buy some souvenirs and enjoy the challenging of bartering for a good deal.
7. Shree Namandeshwar Mahadev Temple
Shree Namandeshwar Mahadev Temple is a Hindu shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva. This sacred temple is characterised by its peaceful ambiance and the mesmerising view it offers of the surrounding Annapurna mountain range and Phewa Lake. The temple is the location of the Maha Shivaratri festival where worship and celebrations take place.
