How to travel to Ometepe?
To travel to Ometepe you will need to travel to San Jorge. You do this by taking a chicken bus to Rivas from either San Juan Del Sur, Granada, or from the UCA bus station in Managua. Then from here either take a taxi or one of the local buses to San Jorge.
From San Jorge head to the port where you will take a ferry to Ometepe. To enter Ometepe you will have to pay 35 NIO ($0.95) as a tourist tax. The ferry ticket will cost 100 NIO ($2.70). You can look at the times of the ferry here.
How to travel around Ometepe?
Ometepe is a massive island. It is a difficult island to travel around if you don’t have any form of transport. Most people choose to hire a motorbike or quadbike. This is a great way to see the island however you have to be cautious as some parts of the islands do not have proper roads and motorbike accidents are common. The most common price per day is $15-20. When hiring a motorbike try and take out some insurance if possible and do not give your passport over as a deposit always pay in cash as people may hold this to ransom if you damage the motorbike.

1. Punta Jesus Maria
Punta Jesus Maria is a picturesque stretch of land located where Lake Nicaragua meets the vast horizon. Concepción Volcano, standing proudly as one of the defining landmarks of Ometepe Island, commands attention with its imposing presence and rugged beauty. Towering at 1,610 meters (5,282 feet) above sea level, it is Nicaragua’s second-highest volcano. Its perfectly symmetrical cone, often shrouded in mist or crowned with a wispy plume of smoke, captivates visitors. If you would like to hike this volcano then it is possible but you will have to do this with a guide. It usually costs around $15 and takes 7-8 hours to complete the hike.
