To see all three of these sites you could easily join a tour group or you could hire a car to visit these sites yourself. Or even try travelling the local way to get to these sites. This article will break down why you should visit each site as well as how you can get there yourself.

Garni Temple:
Garni Temple is located atop a rocky plateau. This temple is a remarkable example of ancient Hellenistic influence fused with local Armenian design. It is believed to have been constructed in the 1st century AD by King Tiridates I. It serves as an ode to Mihr, the sun god, and is a tribute to Armenia’s pre-Christian era. The temple has a well-preserved collonaded façade, intricate carvings, and the majestic backdrop of the Azat River Gorge. This historic site not only holds religious significance but also offers you a glimpse into the incredible architecture of the bygone era.
To enter Garni Temple the fee is 1000AMD (€2.40).

You can take the 284 bus from Yerevan. You can look at the timetable here. You could even take a taxi here if you don’t want to take public transport.

Geghard Monastery:
Located in Vayots Dzor Province, Noravank Monastery is a masterpiece of medieval architecture and spiritual devotion. Noravank Monastery also holds historical significance as the spiritual centre of the Orbelian noble family. This family played a crucial role in preserving Armenian culture.
How to get here?
You could take the 284 bus to Garni and then take a taxi. Usually, the trip will cost 250AMD (€0.60). You could also take a direct Marshrutka from Yerevan Gai Bus Station. These depart when they are full and cost 250 AMD (€0.60).

Lake Sevan:
Lake Sevan is often referred to as the “Jewel of Armenia”. This high-altitude lake is one of the largest freshwater alpine lakes in the world. This lake provides a vital source of water, fish, and fun activities for locals and tourists. The Sevanavank Monastery perched atop the peninsula dates back to the 9th century. How to get here?
At the Northern Bus Station, you can take a marshrukta to the city of Sevan. This should cost 500AMD (€1.20) From here you could either ask for the driver to take you to the lake or take a taxi to the lake. This should cost 1000AMD (€2.40).
