Solo Female Travel: Guide to Nepal
The Nepalese people are extremely friendly and welcoming towards females so expect a lot of people making conversation with you as people are generally very interested in you!
What to expect:
Safety and Scams:
Taxis/Tours/Guides
Pickpockets
Whilst I did not experience any problems like this, it can happen so you should be wary of your valuables and use lockers available in your accommodation
Natural Disasters
Flooding is common in Nepal during the monsoon season so be aware your plans may have to change due to weather and floods can result in landslides. Check the weather before taking any buses in Nepal.
Domestic flights
Whilst most flights are safe, there is an increased risk of your plane crashing to airports like Jomsom and Lukla. Check the weather before flying and don’t take any unnecessary risks.
Roads in Nepal
As of 2023, Nepal was repairing many roads across the whole country. This made the roads incredibly bumpy to travel along and it felt very unsafe travelling along them as the bus felt like it could have flipped on its side at any moment! I would advise if you have the money to fly between cities to avoid any risk of being involved in a car crash.
